After dramatizing the O.J. Simpson case, the second season of American Crime Story will be about something completely different.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Ryan Murphy said that season 2 of the series will revolve around Hurricane Katrina.
“I want this show to be a socially conscious, socially aware examination of different types of crime around the world,” he said. “And in my opinion, Katrina was a f—ing crime -- a crime against a lot of people who didn’t have a strong voice and we’re going to treat it as a crime. That’s what this show is all about."
This second season would follow a group of six to eight people and examine various sides of the tragedy. This is technically still just a hypothetical, since FX has not ordered season 2 of American Crime Story. But if the upcoming The People v. O.J. Simpson does well, which seems likely, another season is a pretty safe bet.
After serving as executive producer on FX's American Horror Story, Murphy will do the same for American Crime Story, another anthology which for its debut season will follow the O.J. Simpson trial. It will star Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian and Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, as we previously reported.
The show premieres on FX on Feb. 2.
