Hathaway defended her fellow actress via social media saying that Lawrence’s comments were “taken out of context.”

On her Facebook page Hathaway wrote, “Dear the Internet, It's become pretty clear that the Jennifer Lawrence ‘scolding’ was taken out of context and that she was dryly joking with a journalist who was indeed using his phone to take photos of her.”

Media outlets that reported on the topic never said anything about the reporter taking pictures of JLaw, but rather that he not a native English speaker and needed his phone to assist in reading his questions for her. Others say that the entire interaction between the two was not reported.

Hathaway likely stepped into the line of fire for Lawrence because she has dealt with plenty of wrath from haters before. Yahoo Celebrity noted that those who dislike her are nicknamed, "Hathahaters."

We’ll have to wait and see if Lawrence herself gets another Oscar and addresses the incident in the press room or maybe she’ll refrain from calling the reporters “bro” to avoid more hate.
