Caitlyn Jenner is the February/March 2016 cover girl of The Advocate magazine and talked to them about her new status in the transgender community.

Jenner made her debut as Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair on June 1 and she has since gone on to document her new life as a woman on her E! docu-series I Am Cait.

She explained to The Advocate how she wants to continue to use the show as a platform to open the window of conversation about transgender issues.

"In so many ways like the gay issue, 20, 30, 40 years ago, people were sweeping that then," she said. "We've opened up the conversation. It's OK to talk about trans issues."

Even though Kim Kardashian taught her the importance of looking your best in front of the paparazzi, Jenner acknowledged “There's more to being a woman than hair and makeup,” and she’s now doing her best to research that.

"So recently, I've been trying to study up on it,” she said, adding she has read How to Be A Woman by Caitlin Moran to help her. But Jenner did say she doesn’t want to be the “spokesperson for the trans community” because she doesn’t know enough about it.

“That is not the case,” she said. “I am only a spokesperson for my own journey. After that, I know nothing. Am I learning a lot? Absolutely. I’m just trying to do my best, that’s all.”
