Stacey Dash has made rather controversial comments regarding Black History Month. The actress sat down with Fox News' Fox and Friends to discuss her opinion surrounding the Academy Awards' all white actors nominations controversy.
The #OscarsSoWhite controversy has led many Hollywood A-listers, such as Jada Pinkett-Smith to boycott the show as a whole; a move Dash called "ludicrous." She then went on to criticize the Image and BET awards.
"We have to make up our minds. Either we want to have segregation or integration," she said, adding, "And if we don't want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards where you're only awarded if you're Black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It's a double standard."
When Fox and Friends host Steve Doocy asked her if she believed that there should not be Black History Month because of there not being a White History Month, Dash simply replied, "Exactly, Exactly."
These comments sparked controversy among the black community on social media. Everyone from critically acclaimed writer MichaelaAngela Davis, to author Roland Smith had things to say regarding Dash's statements. Below are Twitter reactions to Dash's comments:
