Dan Haggerty, who played the role of Grizzly Adams several times, has died. He was 74.
His manager, Terry Bomar, confirmed to ABC News that he died after a battle with cancer. Haggerty died Friday morning.
Haggerty’s long career began with a TV appearance in 1953, but started working consistently a decade later in 1964. In 1974, Haggerty scored the starring role in the family adventure movie The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams and starred in another adventure movie two years later in The Adventures of Frontier Fremont.
In 1977 and 1978, he reprised the role of Grizzly Adams on television. The show only ran 37 episodes over two seasons, but many viewers still remember Haggerty for the role.
After the show ended, he went on to make appearances in Charlie’s Angels, CHiPs, The Love Boat and several films. He also played Grizzly Adams in 1978’s Once Upon A Starry Night, 1981’s Legends of the Wild and 1982’s The Capture of Grizzly Adams. He also starred in movies that had “Grizzly” in the title, including Grizzly Mountain (1997) and Escape To Grizzly Mountain (2000).
