The Pyramids of Giza are breathtaking to look at, but are not supposed to be climbed on. German daredevil Andrej Ciesielski didn’t care though and filmed his entire journey up the 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid.

Ciesielski posted the entire video on YouTube on Jan. 25. He begins the video with his drive through Cairo to the Pyramids and then shows himself climbing up the 165-meter tall pyramid and walking around the top. You can see the other pyramids and even tourists being taken to the site.

During an interview with The Daily Mail, the 18-year-old Ciesielski said that security guards were yelling at him in Arabic to come down. But he still kept going up.

“I was told that I did risk prison, although on balance I thought the photos would be worth it,” Ciesielski said. “It was absolutely surreal standing on top of one of the wonders of the world and something that I will never forget. I wanted to experience Egyptian culture and I definitely managed that.”

Ciesielski said that when he came down, security did question him and requested a look at his camera. He did ask to be taken to the German embassy, but was eventually released.

Ciesielski also wrote about his experience on his blog.
