Bokeem Woodbine, one of the most memorable actors from Fargo season 2 has just been cast in a new show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Woodbine, who played Mike Milligan on Fargo, is joining A&E's The Infamous. He'll be playing Shannon, a reformed gangster and hip-hop producer who becomes the fierce rival of an LAPD detective.

The Infamous is set against the backdrop of the 1992 Los Angeles riots, which broke out after the acquittal of four police officers arrested for the beating of Rodney King. The riots lasted for six days and began in South Central Los Angeles. The Infamous will have a musical component to it as well, presumably tying into Shannon's job.

Joshua Zetumer (RoboCop) will write the show and serve as executive producer, along with Nina Jacobson (American Crime Story) and Brad Simpson (World War Z). A&E picked up The Infamous to pilot back in July, according to Deadline. The network is putting an increasingly large emphasis on original series and believes now is the perfect time to tell this story.

"By looking a few decades back in time, The Infamous urgently explores the issues of racial tension and injustice that remain relevant today," said A&E Head of Programming Elaine Frontain Bryant.
