The first major winter storm of the 2016 season is forecast to hit the Northeast and interfere with the weekend plans for millions of people.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch and said that significant snowfall could blanket the northern and mid-Atlantic region starting on Friday and lasting through most of the weekend.
Accuweather noted that some 50 million people could be impacted by the storm.
“Potential life-threatening conditions [are] expected Friday night into Saturday night,” the NWS said. “Travel is expected to be severely limited if not impossible during the height of the storm Friday night and Saturday.”
Since the storm is still days out the models and snowfall totals have been changing somewhat. What is unchanged is the path showing that Washington D.C. could really get the brunt of it all with the heaviest snow totals expected to fall there. One to two feet of snow is predicted for many areas.
The storm is also expected to have wind gusts between 30-40 mph and last about 36 hours.
