Someone noticeably absent from Sunday night’s Golden Globes ceremony was actor Idris Elba despite being nominated for two awards.
As ET Online noted although Elba was up for Best Actor in a TV movie or limited series for Luther and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Beasts of No Nation, he was ordered to skip the event due to an injury.
"On doctor's orders [he] cannot get on a plane to attend the Golden Globes," his rep said.
The Times of India reported that the British actor hurt his back, which was the injury that kept him from flying.
Elba did not win the hardware last night. The Best Actor in a TV movie or limited series went to Oscar Issac for Show Me a Hero. Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture went to Sylvester Stallone for his portrayal of his iconic Rocky character in Creed.
Even though Elba missed this award show, he should be able to attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Jan. 30.
