We figured she would respond, it was just a matter of when Jada Pinkett Smith was going to respond to Janet Hubert’s video diss toward her and Will Smith about the Oscar boycott. Well now, she has.

In a new video by Entertainment Tonight, Pinkett clarified her comments after Hubert said it was “suspect” that Pinkett was skipping the Oscars and thought it only had to do with her husband not receiving a nomination for his critically-praised role in the movie Concussion.

"This whole Oscar controversy isn't really about the Oscars," the 44-year-old Pinkett Smith said. "Really, in my plea to ask all communities and people of color to take back our power is so that we can use it in all sectors of our community, and right now, specifically with African-American people, we have some very serious issues that I think we as a people have to move together on."

As we previously reported, after the actress made a video saying she would not be attending the event, Hubert, who played Aunt Viv on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and has had a long feud with Will Smith, made her own video calling out Pinkett Smith’s motives.

On Thursday morning, Will Smith appeared on Good Morning America and said that his snub may have something to do with his wife’s adamant boycott.

Smith has been nominated for two Oscars one in 2002 and one in 2007. However, he lost both to fellow black actors Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker.
