If there exists any Star Wars fan out there who was hoping to see the return of Jar Jar Binks, bad news: it probably will never happen.

In a new interview with These Are The Actors You're Looking For, actor Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, says he would not return to the franchise if asked back.

"I think I've done my damage. I'm good with where I stand in the Star Wars universe," Best said. "I'd say no. I think I did what I did, I thought it was great, it was fun, but now it's time to move on."

Best also addressed fans' passionate hatred for the character, noting that he can understand why a creature aimed purely at children would feel condescending. At the same time, he did note that a lot of kids still enjoy Jar Jar.

Although he has become the poster boy for everything wrong with George Lucas' later Star Wars projects, Jar Jar has actually still popped up in the franchise in recent years. The infamous Gungan made several appearances on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, although he fit in a lot more naturally in a children's cartoon. Ahmed Best provided the voice as Jar Jar in The Clone Wars up until his final appearance in 2014.

Jar Jar was also the subject of a crazy Internet conspiracy theory in the lead up to The Force Awakens that suggested he was a secret Sith Lord. Director J.J. Abrams has since debunked that idea, although he admired the creativity.
