After being suspended for the entire 2015 NFL season, Josh Gordon has reportedly taken the steps necessary to be reinstated into the league.

A source with knowledge to the situation told ESPN that the Cleveland Browns wide receiver has filed the application for reinstatement. The league will make a decision on his request within 60 days.

Gordon was suspended last February for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy for a third time and previously served two suspensions. He also agreed to alcohol testing as a condition of his reinstatement in the league following a DWI arrest in 2014.

After Gordon’s most recent suspension was announced, he wrote an open letter in The Cauldron to his critics stating that he had two beers on a flight to Las Vegas after the season ended and was then informed he had to take a drug test.

"It doesn't matter if I thought that the league-imposed restriction on drinking had expired at the end of the regular season; what matters is that I didn't confirm whether or not that was the case," he wrote. "Now, that oversight has further jeopardized my relationship with my team and our fans, my reputation, and maybe even my career."

Gordon is currently under contract with the Browns through 2016 and if reinstated will become a free agent in 2017.
