CBS’ The Good Wife might be without its good wife soon. The show is already going to lose its creators at the end of its seventh season, but star Julianna Margulies hinted that she might be leaving too.
During a speech at the Casting Society of America’s Artios Awards to honor Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King, Margulies told the audience of casting directors that she will be without a job soon.
“[I’m surprised Robert and Michelle tonight,” Margulies said, reports Vulture. “They didn’t know I was going to be here. They think I’m here for them, but I’m unemployed come April, and I think you haven’t seen me in a while, at least not in person, so I thought I should show up.”
These comments came just after Robert King told TVLine at the Television Critics Association Press Tour that they will be leaving the show if CBS decides to renew it for season eight. He said they had always planned on finishing their story in seven seasons and the season seven finale will work as a series finale.
“The bottom line is CBS is trying to make deals for an eighth season, so we would be there in a supervisory role, but the storytelling we have will finish in the seventh year,” he told TVLine.
The Good Wife has routinely been nominated for awards and Margulies has won a Golden Globe and two Emmys for her role as Alicia Florrick.
