Lena Dunham isn’t happy with the media’s coverage of presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton and as a result, has called for a reevaluation of how male and female candidates should be talked about.
While at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend, the Girls creator, who has campaigned for Clinton, slammed the way the media has covered the campaign thus far.
“The way that Hillary Clinton‘s been talked about in the media is so gendered and rabidly sexist in every single portrayal,” Dunham told Variety. “Whether it’s the attacks on her personal life or the adjectives that are used to describe her clothing, we have to do a full reexamination.”
Dunham attended Sunday’s Planned Parenthood’s Sex, Politics & Film Cocktail Reception event with Elizabeth Banks, Chloe Sevigny, Rose McGowan, Natasha Lyonne, Alysia Reiner.
She went on to say she would “have a f–king field day” if male candidates were covered in the same regard.
Dunham attended Sundace to promote the documentary she produced, Suited.
