Miss Universe, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, gave her first official interview with the coveted title to Good Morning America on Monday, where she talked about Steve Harvey’s famous flub.
Wurtzbach spoke with Lara Spencer about former owner of the pageant, Donald Trump, suggesting he would have her share the crown with Miss Colombia if he still had a say, who was mistakenly announced the winner.
She wasn’t on board with that, telling Spencer, “I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown.” Wurtzbach added, “I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia and the rest of the contestants.”
During a recent radio interview, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez said of the ordeal, “It was very humiliating for me, but also for the whole country and for all the people not only from Colombia but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium.”
At any rate, Miss Universe called Harvey “gracious” for apologizing for his mistake and would be fine with him hosting again next year.
"Maybe the way it was written, it was a little confusing," she said. "I understand. It was his first time to judge a pageant, but it's OK. He's human. People make mistakes."
