Nobody plays God quite like Morgan Freeman, and the actor recently said he would reprise that role in a Bruce Almighty sequel...on one condition.
Freeman told ShalshFilm that he would be in Bruce Almighty 2 if Jim Carrey also returned.
“I think I would have to if they did it,” Freeman said. “If Jim Carrey plays his character, and if I was called on, I would feel obligated."
Although its sounds totally hypothetical there, a proper Bruce Almighty followup has been discussed for years. Back in 2012, Variety reported that Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (Hot Tub Time Machine) were writing a sequel for Carrey to star in, but there hasn't been any real news since then. Still, we saw a sequel to another Carrey comedy recently with Dumb and Dumber To, so anything's possible.
Technically there was a Bruce Almighty sequel already: Evan Almighty, which starred Steve Carell as his character from the original film. Freeman played God in that movie as well, but it turned out to be a box office disaster, largely due to the fact that the studio spent nearly $200 million on it. Hopefully, if another film in this series happens, it will be significantly cheaper than that.
