Finding Carter star Zac Pullam revealed on Twitter that the show has been cancelled after just two seasons. He let the cat out of the bag a bit early and reports later confirmed that the show was axed.

“Sad to say it but if you don't already know, Finding Carter won't be returning for a season 3,” Pullam wrote.

Finding Carter, which is about a teen who learns that her mother was actually the person who abducted her, was picked up for a 12-episode second season in August 2014. The second season was later doubled in size to 24 episodes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series finale in December had 300,000 viewers.

MTV only has a few scripted shows left. Teen Wolf is now in its fifth season and Scream wrapped up its first season in September. The network is currently running the ambitious The Shannara Chronicles, which included the most expensive pilot ever produced by MTV.
