Outlander is very different from Game of Thrones, but the two have one thing in common. The book series they are based on are still ongoing. While Game of Thrones will definitely be moving ahead of George R.R. Martin’s books, Diana Gabaldon promised that her books will stay ahead of Outlander.

During Starz’s presentation at the Television Critics Association Press Tour today, Gabaldon was asked about Martin admitting that he missed his deadlines for The Winds of Winter and if Outlander The Show was impeding on her finishing Outlander The Books. She’s sure that it won’t happen to her, mostly because she can write while traveling, unlike Martin.

“No, unlike George I write no matter where I am or what I’m doing,” Gabaldon explained, reports Entertainment Weekly. “He admits it himself, he doesn’t like to write while he travels, that’s just the way he works. Everybody has their own writing mechanism.”

She said that when she started writing, she had two jobs and was raising three small children, so she wrote whenever and wherever she could. That habit has stuck with her, even after she found success.

As TheWrap notes, Gabaldon said that when she gets into writing, she just sits and constantly writes non-stop. “Stuff just goes through me, I’m barely eating or drinking, not doing anything else. Luckily this only lasts 2 or 3 months or else I would die,” she said.

Outlander tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a World War II nurse who is mysteriously transported to Scotland in the 1700s. Other members of the cast include Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies and Duncan Lacroix. It returns for season two in April.

Season one is up for three Golden Globe awards on Sunday.
