The producers of Starz' hit original series Outlander has finally found the actress who will play the role of Brianna, giving the show’s fans what they’ve been clamoring months for.

British newcomer Sophie Skelton nabbed the coveted part of Claire and Jamie’s daughter. Starz’s official description of the character is that she’s “strong-minded and intelligent beyond her years (traits inherited from both her mother and father)." She "has a distinctly scholastic mind-set and a healthy dose of Fraser stubbornness,” the network said, notes Access Hollywood.

Skelton’s previous television credits include starring on multiple U.K. series, including Casualty, the detective series Foyle’s War, the medical soap opera Doctors and the drama series Waterloo Road. Skelton was born in Woodford, Cheshire and is also a trained singer and dancer.

Those who have read Diana Gabaldon's popular eight-book series know that Brianna, who is sometimes called Bree for short, is Jamie's daughter, but was raised in America and thought Frank Randall was her father up n until now. Besides interacting with her parents, Brianna will have a great deal of screen time with the character of Roger Wakefield, who will be played by Scottish actor Richard Rankin.

Though the role has been cast, exactly when Brianna will meet up with Jamie and Claire has yet to be confirmed. It has been suggested that the new season will not follow the same time sequence as Gabaldon’s Dragonfly in Amber.

Outlander returns for its second season in April.
