Some very lucky people in three states just became a whole lot richer as the record $1.6 billion winning Powerball tickets were sold.
CNN noted that lottery officials confirmed that the winning tickets were sold to folks in Chino Hills, California; Munford, Tennessee and in Melbourne Beach, Florida.
Since October the jackpot has rolled over 19 times and the winning numbers ended up being: 8-27-34-4-19 and the Powerball of 10.
There is still good news even if you are not from one of those states where those winning tickets came from. As FOX News reported, residents in several other states will receive $1 million by matching the five winning numbers with the exception of the Powerball. The Powerball website stated that players who matched those numbers are in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Viriginia, Washington and West Virgina.
Moreover, residents in Arizona, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Jersey, Tennessee and Texas will receive $2 million for matching the numbers and selecting the Power Play option.
Although it is not clear when or if we will ever see a jackpot balloon to over $1 billion again but Saturday’s drawing has a jackpot of over $40 million, which isn’t too shabby.
