It’s been 12 years since Sex and the City went off the air and six years since the second movie from the series came out, but Sarah Jessica Parker can’t seem to shake people thinking who she is in real life is just like the iconic character she played.
In an interview with Wall Street Journal Magazine, Parker said that people don’t realize how different she was and is from Carrie Bradshaw.
“People probably don’t realize that Carrie Bradshaw was radically different from who I was, who I continue to be. I think that sometimes because we look alike and live in the same city and haunt the same neighborhoods, that it was sort of like I was playing in the sandbox, when in truth it took real work every day to be her, to understand her, to not judge her.”
The 50-year-old actress pointed out that Bradshaw struggled in the financial and relationship department in a way that she did not at that time in her life so it was “challenging” at times to play someone that different.
Since the show concluded in 2004, there have been two Sex and the City movies in 2008 and 2010 and countless reruns airing on multiple networks.
