Animation veteran Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, is reportedly teaming up with Netflix.
It’s not clear what the project will be, but Variety reports that Netflix will ask for two 10-episode seasons. That way, a second season could be ready in a reasonable time after the first one due to the animation process. The site reports that it is not clear if Groening will work with a third-party production company on the show.
Deadline also reported that Groening is talking with Netflix, but it could not report what the project is either.
Groening is one of the beloved figures in television animation as the creator of The Simpsons, which is now in its 27th season. He also created Futurama, which included seven seasons between 1999 and 2003.
Groening has won 12 Emmys between his work on The Simpsons and Futurama.
