Fox's upcoming 24: Legacy has found its lead actor. Straight Outta Compton and The Walking Dead star Corey Hawkins will be playing Eric Carter.
Earlier this month Fox executives promised that the show would feature a more diverse cast and lead. The female lead actress will be announced soon.
Currently, Legacy has only been picked up for a pilot episode with the potential for a full series, notes USA Today. The show would air next season and features a different cast from the Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer focused 24.
Legacy will focus on Carter who is an Army Ranger who comes home from combat overseas and learns that his troubles are far from over. It is under pressure and threats that he must turn to 24's Counter-Terrorist Unit.
Sutherland will not be returning to this reboot. He starred in nine seasons and a TV movie playing Jack Bauer. Original 24 producers Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz are working on 24: Legacy.
