While attending the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif. on Thursday, general manager of TLC, Nancy Daniels, was grilled about their handling of the Josh Duggar and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo scandals that took place last year.

Daniels was there to promote the network’s newest series, Single Dad Seeking ... but interest was placed more on the Duggar and Mama June scandals that became media sensations and caused the cancelation of two of the network’s biggest shows, 19 Kids and Counting and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

“Our first priority with all our shows is ensuring the health and well-being of our families," she began, LA Times reports.

When pressed further on the issue, Daniels continued, “Obviously over the last year, we've had a couple of big, very public incidents surrounding our families," adding they "very carefully and very thoughtfully" made each decision regarding the cancelations.

"I'm very comfortable with every decision along the way,” she said.

Daniels then discussed the screening process ahead of airing these families’ lives on their network, and she said it has “evolved in many ways” over the years.

"As soon as we found out about it, we did immediately circle back with the family,” she said of revelations Duggar had molested family members as a teen. “These are people that had something in their lives a long time ago. We were working with them to figure out when it happened and how do we handle it now. We pulled the show off the air. We immediately connected with RAINN and Darkness to Light, two very well-respected nonprofits involved in this area to figure out the appropriate response."
