Today, Mary J. Blige, the undisputed Queen of R&B, is celebrating her 44th birthday.
Blige has an iconic voice, with an ability to have a high impact sound while still keeping her smooth and soulful vocals is a masterpiece that has become almost impossible to recreate. She released What's the 441? back in 1992 and made a major impression in a genre that had been predominantly male. With that album, her style and incredible vocal range was made clear. She was a powerful yet soulful singer that was able to bring a unique and modern twist to R&B. Since that first release, Blige has topped the charts with singles like "No More Drama," "Be Without You" and "Mr. Wrong."
Blige continues to make an imprint on the entertainment industry, even guest starring on the popular show, Empire.
