Grease is (still) the word. Ever since the original Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, hit theaters in 1978 it has been a cultural phenomenon. The movie musical grossed an estimated $379 million worldwide at the box office and spawned a sequel, hit soundtrack and a Broadway adaptation. Grease followed good girl Sandy falling for bad boy T-Bird Danny and the drama that ensues when high school cliques collide.
Grease is now heading to the small screen in a live production and Dancing with the Stars alum Julianne Hough is taking on Newton-John’s Sandy while Broadway star Aaron Tveit is playing Travolta’s Danny. Rounding out the star-studded cast is High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens as bad girl Rizzo, singer Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchie and former boy bander Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie.
In honor of Grease: Live airing this Sunday at 7 p.m. on FOX, TheCelebrityCafe.com is ranking the best scenes from the original musical comedy.
