The divas are back and are more dramatic than ever in the season 5 premiere of Total Divas. Let's take a second to remember what happened last in season 4; Paige no longer wants to be engaged to Kevin, Bryan (Brie's husband) can no longer wrestle, and Dolph still has feelings for Nikki.
Dolph confesses his love for Nikki, tells her he can give her babies and a future, and even goes in for a kiss. Nikki slaps him in the face, and this all happens while John Cena (her boyfriend) is in the ring. She just feels horrible because Dolph is disrespecting John, who we later learn is his tag team partner in the Japan event coming up. Nikki thinks the best idea is to not tell John until after the fight.
Paige is also hiding a secret from her boyfriend for the entire trip to Japan - she doesn't want to be engaged. Her original plan of telling him gets ruined when Kevin calls her to tell her that his parents are coming down when she gets back...thus forcing her to stay engaged longer.
Brie stayed home from Japan but not the drama as she nags Bryan to get over wrestling. Since being out of the ring he has been a judge on Tough Enough (a show to find the next wrestling superstar) but all he wants is to get back into the ring. It isn't necessarily the wrestling itself he wants to keep doing, but he wants his voice to keep being heard because once you're out of the ring nobody cares what you have to say anymore in his opinion.
After Dolph's match Nikki approaches him for an apology for what he did at work the other day, but Dolph thinks it's because she actually still wants to be with him. He tells her she's settling for John and should stop acting like an 18 year-old girl for thinking that's her soulmate. He also tells her that he will tell John himself, which will make her look like she is hiding it because she is still in love with him. Cruel move Dolph.
Paige tries to settle Nikki and Dolph's issue once and for all and tells him to meet them out in Japan, where the two just continued to argue. Paige fails to mediate the issue, and Nikki settles it by saying she is staying with John regardless of if he marries her or not because he makes her a better person and that Dolph blew the chance he had back when they were together.
Upon picking up Paige from the airport, Kev notices almost immediately that Paige isn't wearing her ring, to which she responds that she didn't want to lose it. Matters only get worse for Paige when her mum called her freaking out that she had to find out from watching TV that her own daughter was engaged. When Kev starts asking questions she finally breaks down and tells him she doesn't want to be engaged but was afraid to tell him because she didn't want to lose him and felt there was a lot of pressure to say yes.
With four minutes left in the episode Nikki tells John about Dolph and John's response left her, me, and most likely everyone that watched the show completely shocked and disappointed. He just told her he loves her and she knows that, and how great she is, how she's a grown woman and if she feels there is a connection with her and Dolph that he can do nothing to stop it and would actually feel stupid to try and stop it. Then he picks up his glass and makes a toast to Nikki because "she's still got it." Of course this makes Nikki mad because he isn't mad or upset.
