Following the death of his grandmother, a man is convinced to go on a road trip with his grandfather in Dirty Grandpa. With only a week until he is to marry his boss’ controlling daughter, his grandfather takes him on the adventure of his life in the hopes of giving him a new perspective on how things could be. Robert De Niro and Zac Efron star in the one-hour and 42-minute comedy alongside Julianne Hough, Aubrey Plaza, Danny Glover and Dermot Mulroney. The film is rated R for sex, nudity, language and drugs.
Extraterrestrials live among humans in The 5th Wave. As aliens take over earth, the line between aliens and people is blurred. A young woman must put her trust in another being if she’s ever going to find her missing brother. The sci-fi adventure stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Robinson, Ron Livingston, Maria Bello and Liev Schreiber. The PG-13 film is based on Rick Yancey's novel. It runs for one hour and 52 minutes.
A woman is hired to care for a doll resembling a deceased child in The Boy. When she disregards some of the rules that his parents left behind, she discovers that the doll may have a life of its own. The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohen stars in the PG-13 film. The horror film runs for one hour and 37 minutes.
A physicist invents a machine that can travel through space and time in Synchronicity. When a rare flower is found in the future, he must prove that it exists in the present in order to confirm his machine’s validity and secure the rights to his creation. One woman stands in his way as she tries to take the credit for his invention. The unrated sci-fi film runs for one hour and 41 minutes. It’s available in limited theaters.
A human father and monster queen give birth to a monster baby in Monster Hunt. The child becomes the target of both the people and the beasts. The unrated, sci-fi action film is running in limited theaters and is one hour and 51 minutes. It’s available in Mandarin with English subtitles.
Gangsters and a property developer threaten a city in Ip Man 3. Master Ip uses his martial arts skills to put a stop to the corruption and save the area. The action film is rated PG-13. It’s running in limited theaters and runs one hour and 45 minutes.
Dirty Grandpa is providing a laugh in theaters this week. On Jan. 29, the laughs are sure to continue with the release of the raunchy comedy Fifty Shades of Black and the children’s film Kung Fu Panda 3.
