Comedy Bang Bang has found its new bandleader, and the choice couldn't be more perfect.

Weird Al Yankovic will be joining as bandleader for the IFC series' fifth season. The announcement was made on this week's episode of the Comedy Bang Bang podcast, where Yankovic said that right after his recent five-month tour, he was contacted by Scott Aukerman about the job.

"I had no real, concrete plans after the tour, and I thought, 'Oh, something will happen, something will just fall into my lap,'" he said. "And as it turns out, [Aukerman] fell into my lap."

Yankovic described Comedy Bang Bang as one of his all time favorite TV shows, noting that it was hard to turn the position down. He has previously appeared as a guest on both the TV show and the podcast.

After Reggie Watts left Comedy Bang Bang to join James Corden's The Late Late Show, the role of bandleader went to Kid Cudi. However, the recent season finale was Cudi's last episode, as he announced on Twitter.

Yankovic said on the podcast that he plans to record a version of the theme song similar to Watts' from the early episodes.

Comedy Bang Bang will air its 20-episode fifth season this spring.
