A woman was shot by a stranger during a screening of Michael Bay’s 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi in Renton, Washington, near Seattle, on Thursday.

Renton police Cmdr. David Liebman told The Seattle Times that police believe that the shooter, a 29-year-old man, was intoxicated before he attended the 8:35 p.m. screening. He took a loaded gun into the theater and, as he was fumbling with it, the weapon went off and hit a 41-year-old woman in her shoulder.

The woman was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition. A hospital spokeswoman told The Associated Press that she is doing better Friday and should recover.

Police do not think that the man and woman knew each other. Witnesses said that the gunman left the theater after the gun went off. Just after 10 p.m., he called 911 to turn himself in and told police about the incident.
