Marvel fans have been told that the Hulk will not appear in Captain America: Civil War, but one of the film's stars may have just accidentally revealed that this is not the case.

In a recent interview with Radio 1, while listing off reasons Civil War lives up to the hype, Anthony Mackie nonchalantly said that Ruffalo is indeed in the movie.

"You get to see Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans and Scarlet Johansson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good acting," Mackie said.

This contradicts previous reports that we would not see the Hulk again for a while following his disappearance at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Back in September, Ruffalo himself denied he was in Civil War, as we previously reported.

“I was in the script but then they removed my character," he said. "They don’t want to reveal where is he and why. I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon.”

We have since learned that Ruffalo will be back in Thor 3, which will be something of a road-trip movie featuring Thor and the Hulk, as we previously reported. Could Marvel have added Ruffalo back into the script at the last minute in order to set up the Thor sequel? Or did Mackie just misspeak in this interview?

We'll find out for sure when Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6.
