Brian Williams had a shaky first night back to primetime on Monday night during MSNBC's coverage of the Iowa caucus, when he was forced to apologize for an F-bomb that aired.
It wasn’t Williams who dropped the curse word, rather a woman involved in a debate about Bernie Sanders' stance on veteran healthcare.
"The fact that I haven't gotten benefits because the VA is so f---ed up, really makes me concerned," she said.
Williams tried his best to recover from the moment, telling viewers at home with Rachel Maddow by his side, "You know, when you listen in to caucuses, you take the good with the bad, and people often speak the way they do out on the street. We all join in on apologizing for a bit of French that snuck in to our English-language translation there."
As we previously reported, this was Williams’ first time back on primetime in a year. Williams was suspended in February 2015 after lying about events that happened back in 2003 in Iraq. He returned to television in September to cover Pope Francis’ visit to America as well as breaking news stories for MSNBC.
