It’s the end of the road for former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan as he has announced his retirement.
Bryan, whose real name is Bryan Lloyd Danielson, made the announcement via Twitter on Monday citing medical reasons as to why he’s calling it quits.
WWE.com noted that the 34-year-old didn’t give much more detail other than that, but said he will address the reasoning and provide further information about the decision on this evening’s episode of Raw.
Bryan began his wresting career right out of high school in 1999 and later cemented his legacy as a superstar with WWE. In 2014, he married WWE diva and one half of the Bella Twins, Brie Bella. Bryan, alongside his wife, has been introduced to a whole new audience of fans since appearing on the E! hit series Total Divas.
Through the show even those who do not follow his wrestling career have seen his struggles of wanting to get back into the ring post-injury documented in the series. Unfortunately, we now know that won’t be happening.
