Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Kevin Hart will be hosting the MTV Movie Awards this year.

The two will be hosting the awards on the eve of their release for their movie Central Intelligence, set to hit theaters June 17.

What makes this year's MTV Movie Awards so special is not that these two stars are hosting the show (even though that's a part of it), but it's also the 25th anniversary. It will be taped live across the Warner Bros. backlot on April 9, being shot in multiple locations, something that most award shows don't do.

“We want to do a big, brave thing to celebrate movies,” executive producer Casey Patterson told Variety. “We love Kevin and Dwayne for doing big, risky, bold things. Most award shows play it safe. They’re the right guys to take big swings.”

Both actors are very excited about hosting the awards.

“It’s an honor to be hosting the ‘MTV Movie Awards’ with a guy who’s not only one of the funniest guys on the planet, but who’s often mistaken as my twin, Kevin Hart,” Johnson said. “We live for our fans and promise to make this an epic, historic, unforgettable night for them.”

“I love hosting — it’s my thing. Dwayne and I are the perfect team for the epic 25th anniversary show," Hart said. "It’s going to go down.”

Another thing that makes this year's MTV Movie Awards so special is that MTV will give the audience the chance to write and direct the promo campaign with the two stars via multiple simultaneous live streams. Beginning today at 2 p.m. EST, the event will broadcast across Facebook Live, YouTube, Periscope, Meerkat and YouNow, giving fans the opportunity to direct the hosts via comments and tweets using #movieawards.

Both Johnson and Hart have been nominated for an MTV Movie Award in the past. Hart won the Comedic Genius Award in 2015, and he thanked everyone with his heart-warming speech.

"I wanna thank my fiancée for being my rock right now," Hart said in his speech, notes E! News. "I wanna thank my ex-wife for giving me these two kids who are my best friends right now; Heaven for being the most amazing daughter, Hendrix for being the most amazing son. My kids, I'm doing all of this for them. I'm trying to leave a legacy for them. Last but not least my fans—this is for y'all, I love y'all."

The ceremony airs Sunday, April 10 at 8 p.m. on MTV.
