Wells is reporting in his diary log to his daughter that they’re closing all the portals, except one. Though he was distracted by Earth and its people, he’s ready and extremely eager to get back to her.
He takes a detour to leave for Earth-2 by having dinner with the Wests, and though Joe acknowledges he has to do this, Iris admits she’s worried about him and the fact that he doesn’t have anything left here, now that Patty’s gone. It’s not about that; he’s happy with his life, despite her leaving him, and he’s going to come home. He knows it.
Jay is warning Barry about traveling to Earth-2, advising him against getting too attached. Barry understands and wants to make sure they close the portal if they’re not back in 48 hours. Wells, Cisco and Barry get ready to make their way across the portal, and Barry zooms them over. But with the unstable energy from all of the breeches having been closed, it turns out Barry and Cisco are trapped until they can fix everything.
In Earth-2, Cisco and Barry are appropriately transfixed by seeing Central City in a new light--literally, as everything is shiny, futuristic and cast in an almost ethereal, yellow glow. Even S.T.A.R. Labs is different, with Wells’ lab assistant being an Earth-1 bad guy and Captain Cold actually being Mayor Leonard Snart. As they’re trying to fix the imbalance of Cisco’s glasses, they catch sight of Earth-2’s Barry on television, and he’s even nerdier and cuter than imagined.
However, as he gets distracted by Wells, OG Barry takes the place of his doppelganger and heads over to CCPD. He looks more like Clark Kent with the glasses and the bow tie, but the best part is watching Deadshot turn out to be totally incapable of firing a weapon accurately...but more importantly, Detective West turns out to be Iris, who promptly steals him into a highway and plants one on him, before reminding him they’re married.
She pulls him back home, where he’s clearly still thrown off by the fact that they’re married, before she runs upstairs to change and reminds him his mom called. An emotional Barry calls her and has a conversation with his very alive and very happy mother, and he’s clearly very involved in this world.
Meanwhile, turns out Caitlin’s doppelganger on Earth-2 is the resident villain, with a still-alive Ronnie by her side. They’re a modern-day Bonnie & Clyde, heading off after hearing word there were some breech jumpers.
Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco is more worried about finding his own double, while Wells is stressing out about the lack of word from Zoom. A distracted Barry goes with Iris to watch Joe sing at the local jazz bar, and though his relationship with Iris is more ideal in Earth-2, it turns out that Joe isn’t his biggest fan because he feels like Iris is putting herself on the frontlines because Barry wanted to get a PhD.
On Earth-1, the remaining crew is still trying to figure out how to fix the speed canon when Joe announces there’s a metahuman that’s recently surfaced. Though Joe wants Jay to take the Velocity-6 again to temporarily regain his speed, Jay admits to Caitlin that the reason he doesn’t have his speed isn’t because Zoom stole it, but because the Velocity-6 he took to help increase his speed back on Earth-2 is what’s killing him.
At Jitterbugs (Jitters on Earth-2), Barry is trying to get to the bottom of why Joe hates him when Joe’s performance is interrupted by the arrival of Killer Frost and Firestorm. They’re trying to find the breech jumper. Barry tries to stop them from attacking them, but Caitlin gets even more annoyed when he calls her Caitlin and tries to appeal to her human side. Though Barry stops them temporarily, Joe winds up in the hospital after Deathstorm attacks him.
Wells is not amused by Barry’s clear emotional attachment to these versions of the Wests. Joe’s condition is stable but not that positive, and it’s nice that with everything that’s changed, Iris and Joe still have a solid bond. Joe asks Barry to make sure he takes care of Iris before he flatlines, and Barry comforts a brokenhearted Iris.
She’s not stagnant for long, heading back to CCPD to take down Killer Frost and Deathstorm, partner Floyd Lawton and Cisco on her side.
On Earth-1, CCPD is trying to find the new metahuman. Turns out Adam Phelps is not necessarily an ideal citizen and makes an attack just as Wally shows up to talk with him. He’s tearing up the streets of Central City, positive he’s got an edge after The Flash hasn’t turned up for a couple of days. Jay makes an attempt to neutralize him with the new formula he and Caitlin worked on helping him...temporarily. Scared, Phelps runs off, but they’re still not quite sure what to do.
The trio, led by Iris, make their way to Killer Frost and Deathstorm’s location. Caitlin quickly forces them to back off. Turns out Caitlin and Ronnie work under someone else who works for Zoom--and happens to be Cisco’s double. The two have a snark off before Earth-2 Cisco tells him he doesn’t know how powerful he is and promptly shows him when he terrifies Caitlin and Ronnie. The act doesn’t last for long, though, as Barry quickly jumps in and distracts him.
While Barry makes a valiant effort at keeping them safe, he’s quickly overpowered by Earth-2 Cisco and Ronnie, who attack them as Caitlin pleads for them to stop to avoid Zoom’s wrath...and he promptly shows up, killing Ronnie and Cisco-2 and stealing Barry. A tearful and terrified Caitlin runs off, leaving the crew behind.
On Earth-1, Caitlin patches up Jay, but the two are more distracted by the fact that they have less than 24 hours to fix the speed canon before Barry and Cisco are locked back there forever.
Barry wakes up in captivity, locked behind glass walls but happy to see Jessie still alive. He promises to get her out of there, but Zoom shows up once again to remind him he’s not exactly in a place to make promises.
