A grand jury will decide the fate of quarterback Johnny Manziel as to whether or not he should be charged in a domestic violence case involving his ex-girlfriend.
USA Today Sports noted that authorities in Dallas announced on Feb. 25 that the case would be sent to a grand jury to decide if any charges should be brought.
"The investigation of the domestic violence assault involving Jonathan Manziel, which occurred on January 30, 2016, has been completed," Dallas police wrote in a statement. "Today, a Class A misdemeanor Assault/Domestic Violence case has been referred to the Dallas County District Attorney’s office for presentation to the grand jury. The Dallas Police Department will not release any details of the investigation while it is pending grand jury presentation."
Manziel has been accused of striking his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in one ear. Prior to that alleged incident, the athlete was accused of hitting her another time after the two got into a roadside argument, but she did not press charges.
As we previously reported, the Cleveland Browns are expected to cut ties with Manziel next month when the league’s new year begins.
