Today is Groundhog Day, and you know what that means. Poor Punxsutawney Phil has to make his weather predictions. Apparently, he did not see his shadow, which is great news for those who want an early spring.

Phil came out of his burrow at 7:20 a.m. and told “Inner Circle” president Bill Deeley that he didn’t see his shadow, reports CNN. This means that we should see spring weather early.

Last year, Phil saw his shadow, which meant six more weeks of winter.

Unfortunately, not all groundhogs agree on the visibility of their shadows. New Jersey’s Milltown Mel saw his shadow this morning, notes NJ.com. Staten Island Chuck said that their spring is coming early, reports ABC7. Hopefully, Chuck and Phil are right.

Phil has been making predictions since 1887. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that he is accurate about 45 percent of the time.
