Jane The Virgin opened last night with a young Jane getting her first laptop and taking it everywhere waiting for her muse to strike. In the present, she wakes up in the middle of the night to do her writing after she gets inspiration for her writing. Meanwhile, Xo is thrilled because Rogelio finally saw how his mom could be manipulative after hiding what she knew about his father.
Meanwhile, Liliana is singing as she prepares breakfast at Rogelio’s home. He feels she is just trying to get him to forgive her with breakfast. While denying this, Liliana also tries to work Rogelio once more to convince Manuel not to leave her.
At the Villanueva home, Manuel talks about how happy he is only to be interrupted when they can’t find Mateo. He is crawling and in the excitement, no one realizes his foot is caught on the floor and Jane’s laptop goes crashing to the floor with orange juice spilling all over it.
Rafael is waking up after being drugged to see Michael and Susannah above him. In private, they talk about the flash drive and how it is likely that Nadine never gave it to Rose. Michael realizes he needs to tell Susannah what he did and after she finds out the truth, she is upset and leaves.
Jane goes to the computer store to see about getting her laptop fixed. The guy behind the counter appears to flirt with her, which Lina notices and tries to get Jane to be open to dating. She isn’t thinking about that at the moment, though, and Lina urges her to try. The guy comes back to tell Jane he has to keep the laptop and asks if she has a hard copy. Jane does, but then remembers she had thrown it out. She rushes home but finds out the trash was already taken out.
Rafael comes over with a laptop and then tells Jane about what happened with his mother. He wants to watch Mateo at the house for safety, so Jane leaves to go do her writing. A guy named Brad comes, acting as though they are on a date. Jane is horrified to discover Lina put her on a dating site. She calls Lina to ask for the profile information to take it off the site.
Rogelio talks to Manuel, who tells his son he cares about his partner and doesn’t want to be with his mother. He already figured that Liliana put him up to the conversation. Then when Manuel mentions how Liliana was more focused on his acting than their marriage, Rogelio thinks that she should be his manager, much to Xo’s disagreement.
Rafael is holding Mateo when Jane gets home. She tells him about the blind date before going to change Mateo’s diaper. Rafael texts Jane about how weird it was to think of her being on a date, even if it was an ambush. They talk about whether Rafael ruined things and how they are in a good place. But then Rafael has to go when Petra has a scare. Luckily, the babies are fine, but she has to be on bedrest.
At home after getting an update, Jane tries to work on her paper. She gets an e-mail about the dating profile, so she goes to delete it. However, she ends up reading some of the video messages and is curious. After changing the photo to one with Mateo, she ends up with a message from someone named Greg. They begin talking and agree to a date.
Alba is not impressed about the date, but Jane is excited. She meets Greg and they have instant chemistry. Meanwhile, Michael works to convince Susannah not to go to their boss with all of the illegal things Michael did working the case. He tells her about how he would meet with Nadine once a month in Mexico. He admits that he didn’t trust her and now her death is his responsibility.
Jane goes to her advisor to ask for an extension, but he gives her another idea. After telling a story about Ernest Hemingway’s wife and a stolen suitcase, he tells her to stop focusing on her thesis for a day to see if new inspiration hits.
Rafael deals with another nurse leaving, as Petra is a nightmare to take care of. Since no one else will come, he decides to work from her suite.
Jane and Lina talk about her chance to see Greg once more, but then she sees that his profile has disappeared. Lina tells her she has been blocked, but Jane is surprised since Greg seemed to like her. Lina realizes mentioning Mateo may have been Jane’s downfall and tells her to think about just being with someone for fun. She decides they are going out that night.
Rogelio tries to work with a new actress, but his mother is causing problems. When his co-star, described as the Susan Lucci of telenovelas, threatens to leave, he agrees to try to talk to Liliana.
At home, Rogelio reluctantly tells Xo about what has been going on. But before she can give advice, they hear Mateo cry so she goes to get him. Out at the bar, Lina and Jane are checking out the guys. Dax from the computer store is there, but when she asks about her computer he won’t tell her. He does offer to take them to the skate park, which Jane ends up doing. She tries skateboarding, but doesn’t know how to stop.
Petra orders Rafael around, but he is giving her attitude. She ends up snapping and revealing that she couldn’t handle the nurses saying she was fine since the last time someone said that, she did have a miscarriage four years previously.
Dax helps patch Jane up and after checking her bandaid, he gives her a jacket and they end up kissing. But then when she asks about seeing him that weekend, he mentions a girlfriend. At home, she vents to Xo and Alba about what happened. She tells them she doesn’t know when to bring up Mateo since that always makes things more serious. Xo tells her she has always been serious about her relationships and Jane says she doesn’t want to start all over completely.
Xo gets a text from Rogelio for help, so she goes down to the studio. She tells him to breathe and he realizes he needs to talk to Liliana. Rogelio bucks up the courage to tell his mom about why he asked her there and she tells him she understands. But when she leaves, she is visibly upset, which Xo sees.
Alba comes to talk to Jane about relationships and how she should make time for dating. Jane teases Alba about starting a profile for her.
Xo goes to see Liliana to try to put blame on herself, but finds out Liliana heard them over Rogelio’s body mic. Liliana assures her it is okay and Xo tells her they are there for her.
Jane is filling out a profile with Alba, but gets no matches. A text comes to let her know her computer is ready for pick up and on the way, she is inspired to write. She becomes so inspired that she ends up on the bus until the end of the route.
Michael is at home thinking about Nadine. Then he remembers how a glass had broken and he got a cut on his leg. When he thinks about what Nadine said about how “it’s on you,” he realizes the flash drive has been inside of his body the entire time.
The Villanueva family comes to Rogelio’s last scene of the day, which Liliana wants to see since she had suggested a rewrite. Xo also brings Jane her laptop, which has all of her files on it safe and sound. Manuel tells Liliana that she is the reason for Rogelio’s success and she should be proud. The scene begins and we see it has to do with the Stonewall riots.
Michael takes the chip to the police station and Susannah doesn’t say a word when their boss arrives.
Meanwhile, Liliana talks to Rogelio and gives him her wedding ring to give to Xo, which Jane overhears.
Petra and Rafael work on picking out baby names and both find names they love. At the Villanueva house, Alba looks up someone named Pablo.
Jane is in a meeting with her advisor and they end up in a conversation about their interests. Then, they begin to passionately make out and it turns out to be a very steamy dream Jane is having.
