Arrested Development's Jason Bateman is heading back to Netflix.
According to Deadline, Bateman will executive produce, direct and star in Ozark. The series, which was created by Bill Dubuque (The Judge), will revolve around a money launderer for a drug cartel played by Bateman. The show's title comes from the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, where the series will be set.
Bateman says he will probably be directing the first two and last two episodes of the 10-episode season, although he originally hoped to direct all ten, according to Slashfilm.
"Just scheduling-wise there is no way to act in all of them and prep all of them, but that was the original intent — to basically direct a 600-page movie," Bateman said.
Ozark will be Bateman's first starring role in a new television series in about 10 years, though he reprised his character Michael Bluth in the fourth season of Arrested Development. Though he's primarily known for comedy, Bateman has tackled some dramatic characters as of late, most notably in 2015's The Gift. He recently signed on for Felt, an upcoming Watergate drama about FBI special agent Mark Felt ("Deep Throat"), as we previously reported.
