CBS ordered a pair of pilots on Feb. 2. One is a reboot of MacGyver and the other is inspired by Dr. Phil McGraw’s early career.

News of a MacGyver reboot started bubbling up in October. The pilot will be directed by James Wan (Furious 7) and was originally written by R. Scott Gemmill (NCIS: LA). However, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Paul Downs Colaizzo has written the most recent script.

The new series will center on a MacGyver in his 20s who is recruited by a secret organization to use his skills for getting out of any dangerous situation. CBS TV Studios is producing.

Bull, which is inspired by Dr. Phil’s early career, is also an in-house CBS TV Studios production. It was written by McGraw and Paul Attanasio (House). They will produce with McGraw’s Stage 29 Productions and McGraw’s son, Jay McGraw. Amblin Television is co-producing.
