Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has decided to call it a career and announced his retirement in a way only he can.
Rumblings were being heard prior to Sunday’s big game that Lynch would indeed retire after 10 seasons in the NFL and with a tweet during the fourth quarter, he did just that.
In true BeastMode fashion, the athlete tweeted a “peace out’’ emoji and picture of cleats dangling to represent that he was hanging them up.
The Seattle Seahawks then retweeted that photo with the hashtag "#ThankYouBeastMode." Several other Hawks then took to social media with their reactions to his decision and to wish him well.
Lynch, who will turn 30 in April, played for the Buffalo Bills from 2007 to 2010 before being traded to Seattle. He was known for his aggressive running style and was part of the Seahawks team that won Super Bowl XLVIII.
Pro-Football-Reference notes that the five-time Pro Bowler caps off his decade-long career with 9,112 rushing and receiving yards for 74 touchdowns.
