Netflix has renewed Aziz Ansari’s acclaimed comedy Master of None for a second season. Sadly, we will have to wait over a year to see it.
Ansari confirmed the news on Twitter, posting a short clip that included the unique title designs for each episode of season one. He said that the second season will not be available until 2017. “Thanks for all the support everyone,” he added.
In Master of None, the former Parks and Recreation star plays Dev, an actor searching for jobs and romance in New York City. It was created with Alan Yang and co-stars Noel Wells, Eric Wareheim, Lena Waithe and Kelvin Yu. Ansari’s own parents also appeared on the show.
Despite all the acclaim, the show only earned one Golden Globe nomination, for Ansari’s performance in a Comedy series. The show did make the list of the American Film Institute’s 10 best TV shows of 2015 and was nominated for two Critics Choice Television Awards.
