New Orleans Pelicans forward Tyreke Evans will likely miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his knee.

In October. Evans had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He started experiencing pain in the knee again recently. The Pelicans announced on Feb. 7 that Evans would rehab his knee until the All-Star break was over, according to Yahoo Sports. Evans is visiting with specialists this week to finalize the details of the surgery. The surgery will be Evans’ third on the same knee since May. He joins Anthony Davis, Quincy Pondexter and Eric Gordon as Pelicans players who have missed games this season due to injuries.

''It's just a little tendinitis and it's always there,'' Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said, the New Orleans Times-Picayune notes. ''We're probably going to hold him out until after the All-Star break. That gives him a situation where he has almost two weeks where he can rehab and get it back. Hopefully, he'll be ready to go right after the All-Star break and we'll be able to play him for the rest of the stretch.''

Evans was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2009. He is in his third season with the Pelicans. This season he is averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds, according to ESPN. Evans is the Pelicans third-leading scorer.

The Pelicans are 19-32 and are in 12th place in the Western Conference and seven games out of the eighth playoff seed.
