Nothing would be better for the Rams to start their first season in Los Angeles since 1994 with at least one major star. That could be Peyton Manning, according to a head-scratching report from this morning.
A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Rams are considering making a run at Manning, who still hasn’t decided if he will play next season at all.
If Manning does want to come back for the 2016 season, he is still under contract with the Broncos, notes ProFootballTalk.
There have been several hits throughout the season that the 2015 season might be his last. He was forced to miss seven games in 2015 because of his left foot injury and had spinal fusion surgery in 2011.
If the Rams can’t pry Manning away from the Broncos or retirement, the team will start Case Keenum at quarterback, with Nick Foles and Sean Mannion competing for the role during preseason. The Rams were 7-9 in their last season in St. Louis.
Manning and the Broncos face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Feb. 7 in Super Bowl 50. It is Manning’s fourth Super Bowl and he is trying to win his second.
