Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is moving forward at CBS Films and the movie has just hired its writers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dan and Kevin Hageman will write the feature film adaptation of the popular children's book series. The Hagemans have previously written animated comedies like Hotel Transylvania, The Lego Movie and Scary Stories and producer Guillermo Del Toro collaborated with them on his upcoming Netflix series Trollhunters.

"I have had such a great time working with the Hagemans on Trollhunters -- and they have proven to be such brilliant writers -- that the fit for this material was just perfect: they grew up with the books, they love the genre and they are smart and emotional when writing characters," Del Toro said.

The original draft for Scary Stories was written by Saw scribes Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, while John August (Frankenweenie) was brought in for a second draft, as we previously reported. Guillermo Del Toro joined the project last month and noted that he's a huge fan of the original books, even having artwork from them framed in his house.
