San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Manu Ginobili is recovering after undergoing testicular surgery on Feb. 4 and will now miss at least one month of playing time.
The San Antonio Express-News noted that Ginobili had the surgery following an injury during Wednesday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The 38-year-old was defending Ryan Anderson when suddenly he fell to the ground in pain after Anderson’s knee went into his groin area. Ginobili was then helped to the Spurs’ locker room.
After the game, coach Gregg Popovich said he didn’t even know what happened.
"I have no clue," he said. "I haven't seen him. He wasn't in the locker room, I don't think. I don't know what the hell happened."
The Argentine player’s teammates didn’t seem to know just how serious his injury actually was, but point guard Tony Parker didn't want to speculate.
"I don't want to joke with that," Parker said. "It doesn't look good."
Later, it was announced the Ginobili's injury required surgery and he would be out of commission till at least March. After his surgery the guard took to Twitter to let his fans know how he was doing.
