The Sen. Ted Cruz campaign has been forced to pull an attack ad after it was discovered that one of the actresses in the spot is a softcore porn star.

Amy Lindsay - whose credits include Celebrity Sex Tape, Private Sex Club and The Sex Spa II - is included in an ad called “Conservatives Anonymous.” In it, members of a support group claim that they have been betrayed by Marco Rubio. “Maybe you should vote for more than just a pretty face,” is the line Lindsay has in the spot.

Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler told BuzzFeed News that the campaign was not aware of her filmography. They have since pulled the ad from the air and YouTube.

“The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job,” Tyler said. “Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad.”

Lindsay also told BuzzFeed news that she is a Republican and Christian conservative, exactly the type of voter Cruz is trying to reach. She said that she never did hardcore porn and has some mainstream credits on her resume. (She did make an appearance on a Star Trek: Voyager episode in 2001.) The actress told BuzzFeed that she did think that the makers of the ad knew about her past work.

Later, Lindsay took to Twitter to express her disappointment in the Cruz campaign.
