In case anyone in New England was wondering otherwise, it looks like Tom Brady will finish out his career as a Patriot. The Patriots reportedly signed him to a two-year contract extension.
The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini. They reported that the deal will keep him in New England through 2019, so he would be 42 by the time the contract ends.
As Patriots.com notes, Brady, 38, was already signed through 2017. He’s set to make $9 million in 2016 and $10 million the following year. The details of the new contract extension wasn’t revealed.
Brady was drafted by the Patriots at No. 199th overall in the 2000 draft. Since coming in for an injured Drew Bledsoe in 2001 - and except for the 2008 season when he was sidelined with an injury - Brady has been the Patriots quarterback. He has a 172-51 record and is surprisingly keeping up his skills this late in his career. During the 2015 season, he led the Patriots to another 12-4 season and had 36 touchdown passes and just seven interceptions.
In the playoffs, Brady is 22-9 and has won four Super Bowls.
