The last time we saw Tom Hardy, he was fighting someone seeking revenge against him. In FX’s Taboo, he’s the one out for revenge.

FX released the first trailer for the eight-part miniseries, which will also air on the BBC in the U.K. Announced in April 2014, the show is produced by Ridley Scott and was created by Steven Knight. The series is expected to debut next year.

Hardy stars as James Keziah Delaney, who comes home to England in 1814 after having been thought killed in Africa. He wants to inherit his father’s shipping empire, but he learns that his father’s legacy is in danger and many people don’t want him to take over the business.

The series is based on an original story by Hardy and his father, Chips Hardy. The actor’s Hardy Son & Baker is producing with Scott’s Scott Free London.

Hardy can currently be seen on the big screen in The Revenant, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He also starred in Legend and Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015.

Scott’s most recent film is The Martian, which is competing with The Revenant and Mad Max for the Best Picture Oscar.
