A 24-year-old woman thought she could smuggle $10,000 worth of cocaine past security at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport on Feb. 21 by hiding the block in her vagina.

Shekira Thompson was travelling from her birth country of Jamaica to the U.S. with a package that weighed half a pound in her private parts. Customs officers took her to a private room, where she admitted that she was trying to smuggle cocaine into the country. She is a U.S. citizen.

“This seizure is just another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of these illicit drugs,” Robert E. Perez, Director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's New York Field Operations, told The New York Daily News.

According to the Smoking Gun, Thompson was charged with felony narcotics possession and is being held on Rikers Island on $50,000 bail. Her next court date is set for March 9.
